Here’s the good news. The lowest attended Revive service of the year still had 100 students present! Their low night was bigger than a majority of the churches in the United States: a roomful of millennials seeking after and worshipping Jesus. I can remember speaking at chapel at the UF back in 1992 or 1993 and we were lucky to have more than a handful of people present. Good things are happening through Campus Ministries at the University of Findlay. In a day and age where a lot of us are asking “where are the millennials?” or “how do we reach millennials?;” God is doing an amazing work through the efforts of Campus Ministries at The University of Findlay. There are numerous opportunities for students to grow and develop in their followership of Jesus Christ.
Here are some ways in which you can support what’s happening and be involved in this good work:
Encourage your students to explore the University of Findlay for higher education. Do you have a son or daughter, grandchild or family friend who is beginning to explore options for higher education? The University of Findlay is a great choice. The University of Findlay equips students for meaningful lives and productive careers and through the work of Campus Ministries, students have abundant opportunities to grow in their faith and deepen their commitment to Jesus Christ. I know there are many factors that figure into a decision like this, but I’d love to see more young people from the CGGC give the University of Findlay a serious look: it’s the only university affiliated with the CGGC. There is a vibrant Christian community on campus and I believe the foundations for revival and change are being laid through what’s happening with the students at the University of Findlay.
The Well is a summer theology institute for high school students focused on understanding the role of faith in all aspects of their lives, including career and leadership opportunities. The Well is held on the campus of the University of Findlay the week of July 9-14, 2017 and is free thanks to a generous grant from the Lilly Endowment, Inc.
The Well's curriculum is designed to walk participants through five tough questions, each building on the last to help individuals identify the role of faith in life and vocation. You can find out more about The Well by visiting https://www.findlay.edu/academics/well/. I’m encouraging some of the young people in my life to apply to The Well this summer and I’d encourage you to do the same.
I’m grateful for the vital work taking place at the University of Findlay and I’m in awe of how God is moving through the work of Campus Ministries. I hope more folks across the CGGC have the opportunity to discover all the good things happening on the campus of the University of Findlay.
Christ’s Peace,
Lance
