First was the sense of blessing. Those ministries seeing effective Gospel ministry lived with a sense of blessing; a humble sense of being blessed by God and therefore free to be a blessing to others. These ministries exhibited a sense of being a conduit of God’s blessings – receiving blessing and sharing those blessing with others. He contrasted this to the ministries that lived with a sense of suspicion.
Second was the idea of anticipation. Ministries seeing effective Gospel ministry lived with a sense of anticipation and expectation that God would work in their midst. He contrasted this to ministries that lived with no sense of anticipation or expectation of God’s presence, power or work.
It struck me how much this issue of posture impacts our ability to see, appreciate and participate in what God may be doing in our midst. Lots of people observed Jesus and His work during His earthly ministry, but there were radical differences in what people observed. Some couldn’t see God’s work in their midst, while others could.
Are we living with eyes to see? Can you see the reality of what God is doing in your midst or are you blind to it? God is on the move and He is active in our world. Do you see it? Do you live with the expectation that you might see God at work today? Jesus invited us to pray “your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Are you looking for the in-breaking of God’s kingdom today? Are you asking Him to bring His kingdom today? Are your eyes open to see what God is doing today that others might be missing?
Christ’s Peace,
Lance
