“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods. His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords: His love endures forever.”
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope this week has given you the opportunity to enjoy the typical traditions of the holiday season. I know I’ve enjoyed some extra time with my family this week. I’m thankful for the change of pace.
I’m grateful to God for His abundant grace. I marvel at God’s patience with me: it certainly is His kindness that leads me to repentance. I’m grateful for Jesus and His willingness to become sin so that I might receive His righteousness. I’m grateful for the Holy Spirit and His guidance in my life.
I’m grateful for Brenda and Carter, Molly and Connor. They bring me a lot of joy and perhaps do more to lead me in the way of Jesus than anyone else in my life.
I’m grateful for a tremendous team of coworkers at the Churches of God, General Conference. They passionately love Jesus, His church, and those that are far from Him. They inspire me to want to become a better leader so that we can continue to hear His voice and humbly do the things He asks us to do.
I’m grateful for dear friends who are often closer than a brother. They love me unconditionally but aren’t afraid to challenge or push me when I need challenged or pushed.
I’m grateful for the dear brothers and sisters who I’ve had the honor of meeting throughout the United States and around the world. Their examples and testimonies are an encouragement to me and my faith.
I’m thankful that God, in His abundant grace, allows us the opportunity to be a part of demonstrating and proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout a world that desperately needs it.
I could go on and on listing the different ways in which I am thankful today because of God’s goodness and the ways in which I experience that goodness on a daily basis. I’m not only thankful to God for what He’s done in my life and the good gifts I’ve received from Him, but I’m even more grateful for my Heavenly Father and my unmerited privilege to be identified as His son.
I hope you have the opportunity to spend some time with those dearest to you this week.
I hope you take the opportunity to reflect upon God’s goodness and the many reasons why we have to offer thanks, not just in this special season, but every day as well.
Christ’s Peace,
Lance
